Guideposts Writers Workshop |
This year Connie entered the Guidepost Magazine Writers Workshop Contest. Her short story about finding meaning in work was selected as a winning entry. It is tentatively scheduled for publication in the March 2009 issue of Guideposts. Her reward for winning the contest was an all-expenses-paid trip to Rye New York to attend the Guideposts Writers Workshop in mid October. It was a five-day marathon of intensive writing instruction, punctuated with delicious meals and good conversations with other writers. The highlight of the experience was receiving instruction from two of Connie's all-time favorite authors, John and Elizabeth Sherrill. |

The workshop was held at Wainwright House, which was built by Col. J.M Wainwright shortly after World War I. He modeled it after a French Chateua where he had stayed during the war. His daughter Fonrose Wainwright donated the house to a foundation dedicated to "inspiring greater understanding through body, mind, spirit and community." |
