San Francisco June 2013 |
Connie visited our son Andrew in San Francisco and spent two weeks with Donald's sister Cristi and family in Orinda, just outside the city. Connie had trouble keeping her stories straight, because there were many secrets afoot. Andrew was orchestrating a surprise birthday party for Cristi. Meanwhile, Cristi was sneaking our daughter Bethany into town to surprise Andrew at his own birthday party. Bethany attended the party wearing a blond wig, sunglasses and loud California clothes. Andrew didn't recognize her.
Connie and Bethany enjoyed meeting Andrew's girlfriend Hannah, and taking a daytrip to Sausalito with Hannah and her mother. We also visited Andrew's office where everyone was so intent on their work that, most of the time, you could hear a pin drop. While on the BART train, we passed through Oakland and admired the big cranes at the dockyard. Andrew pointed out the cranes' resemblance to Star Wars' imperial walkers. He said that George Lucas used to make the Oakland commute as a young man. |
