Merry Christmas 2013

C'mon in from the cold. Have a cookie and a cup of 'nog and join us in a bit of reminiscing.

Goodbyes are never easy, but we are comforted by happy memories as we celebrate the life of Donald's mother, Margaret, who passed away in April.

A champion figure-skater and a lifelong promoter of her sport, Margaret judged skating competitions all over the midwest. She continued skating almost daily until she was 80 years old. Her other hobbies included sewing, knitting and pottery making. She loved traveling with her husband, Bud, and she loved her children and grandchildren.

Donald has been dividing his time between politics and computer consulting. He's the chairman of the local branch of the Republican Party and serves in the Minnesota Legislative Evaluation Assembly. His blog at the Mendota Heights Patch addresses issues of both local and national concern.

Connie has done a lot of traveling lately. Her adventures began in June with a trip to San Francisco to see our son Andrew, and to spend time with Donald's sister Cristi and her family.

September brought us a lovely weekend in Two Harbors Minnesota, where we stayed at a bed-and-breakfast in the historic light house overlooking Lake Superior.

Our autumn yardwork included taking apart the old tree fort we built when our kids were little. We've enjoyed it for 25 years, but alas, its time has come.

Connie flew to Tucson, AZ in mid-November to attend a writers workshop. It was a great learning experience and the scenery was impressive.

Making a quick turnaround after the Tucson trip, Connie headed east for a Thanksgiving visit to our children in New York and Washington D.C.

Timothy and Amanda hosted a Thanksgiving celebration in their townhouse in Washington D.C.
