Two Harbors Bed and Breakfast

Two Harbors is just a few miles north of Duluth, along the shore of Lake Superior. Once a busy port for the mining industry, it is now a charming tourist destination. We had the run of the lighthouse and its grounds and were made "Assistant Lighthouse Keepers" for the duration.

The staff says they quit feeding the deer several years ago, but the memory seems to have persisted within the herd. They also said that during hunting season, "wild" deer from the forest come into town and mingle with the tamer local deer. You can tell which ones are "town deer" because they use the crosswalks at street intersections, while the wild deer just cross anywhere they please. The young lady making our breakfast told us this in all seriousness.
